New fave and not so fave

March 22, 2010

Two of my top bands have new albums due this spring, and after first listens I’m not too impressed. Having said that, I also usually get first impressions completely wrong, so you be the judge.

MGMT‘s 2nd album Congratulations is out next month. So far it sounds like a mix of Jethro Tull prog rock and a fairy film soundtrack. And what’s up with that album cover?? (above)

Stream the entire 9 tracks here.

Dr. Dog‘s Shame Shame on Anti Records also drops next month. Lemme know what you think.

MP3: Dr. Dog- Stranger

Never fear! Let’s hook you up with some fresh new stuff:

Twin Sister from NYC, new album Color Your Life soon:

MP3: Twin Sister- Dry Hump

Also from NY/Brooklyn:

MP3: Bear Hands- What a Drag (c/o TheBurningEar)

  1. mgmt cover looks like a 1987 trapper keeper.

  2. That album cover looks like a psychodelic version of Tom n Jerry by Hanna Barbera.
